Harvard
Deconstruction- COMPLETE
In July of 2009 Pragmatic Construction deconstructed a home in Harvard, IL. Deconstruction, also known as Un-Building, very different from demolition. Interior
soft-stripping and drywall removal is complete and now roof tear-off
and interior woodwork removal begins- we have good weather
projected and a big crew- so we are going to do these at the same time.
Shingles to be recycled into asphalt. Mountain of studs to pull and denail. Young John Wolf runs the nail-kicker to clean boards. Denail- denial.... Big beefy framing coming down. Denailed and stacked- ready for transport and reuse. The garage- saved till the end for workstation and storage. Removing windows carefully! Taking the roof structure apart. We were able to save much of the faux-log siding despite the nailing, construction adhesive and insane amount of caulk we encountered. Hats off to whoever put that stuff up. Fir ridge beam coming down. Heavy ![]() Tarping to protect lumber stored inside. Stone cleaned and piled for palletizing. Time to take apart the deck. Down to the foundation. Lumber stacked and protected for pickup. Final cleanup and we are out. |
